Weekend CLIPS...

9:23:00 PM

This past week if you read my last post... I was having some difficulties with the realization that I was getting older.  The fact that purchasing wrinkle cream was on my "mental" list of to-do's says that I was dreading on it way too much.  This all came to a halt once my parents and mamaw came through the door for the long weekend, Father's Day visit.  It's funny how when we take the focus off of ourselves and divert it to others we can suddenly feel better.  Kind of  relates to last weeks scripture...

Anyways, the visit was wonderful!!!  Here are a few of the highlights...

There was the cake.  This was the result of Ej simply asking her Memaw and Pappy to bring her a cake.  I think she was a little envious at the fact that mommy had got one for her birthday.  So we celebrated again.  Celebrated my birthday again, father's day, family... do you really need an excuse to have cake?!?!

Friday Morning we went to go get Emma Jane's haircut.  This was a big deal, but for those of you who may not know why, here is a recap.  Emma Jane was born with a beautiful head of dark brown hair.  Her head was so delicately covered with hair when she was born, which soon made it's way into a long, flowing rat tail.  Yes, I said rat tail.
Everyone, I mean everyone, tried to get me to cut it.  I just couldn't.  I knew that one day she was going to possibly hate me for allowing her to sport such a long rat tail for such a long time, but I just couldn't make myself snip it away.  Finally, when Lela was born, Wade coached, counseled and coerced me into saying goodbye to the rat tail.
It was gone.  Never to be seen again, except if you open to the last page in her baby book of course.

This was only the beginning... I let it get much, much longer. :)

This was the adorable pony tail it made!

So back to the now...
Her hair was curly and cute, but very jagged to say the least and once again I knew it was time to finally make the plunge and get her hair cut.  Officially.  By a real stylist.
So I decided to do it with family in town.  That way, if her curls were mistakenly cut off, her bangs wop sided or some how she came out with a mullet... I would be comforted by my family!

So all crazy dreams, nightmares and fears aside... her hair turned out BEAUTIFUL.  She loved every minute of it and was so serious throughout the process.  She didn't move an inch, crack a smile or say a word.  Totally unordinary.  I think she was taking it all in and finally relieved that I had taken her to get some much needed pampering.  When it was all said and done, she danced around like a princess and enjoyed her new do.

Then came Father's day.  My dad always has a hard time because of his father being gone, like many who have had to say goodbye to their father.  This was the first father's day in a long time that I can remember that my dad was truly happy and not sad.  Don't get me wrong, he doesn't walk around gloomy all day long, but you can always sense the sadness that he feels when it is time to celebrate our dads.  This year was different.
I know for a fact that he thought about his dad.  I thought about my papaw, who we loved so much.  But there was a contentment there.  A contentment that can only be filled by Christ.  I think he had that this past Sunday.  I was so proud of him.

The girls sure do love their pappy.

And to my husband.  No greater man was created for me than you.  You are a wonderful husband, father and I learn from you and your walk with the Lord daily.

I hope everyone had a great Father's day weekend.  I hope you celebrated your earthly father, but I hope even more that you celebrated your heavenly father.  For he is the creator of all good things... including YOU!

  1. Oh my gosh Tiffany. Your words always bring me such happy tears, and I am filled with overwhelming joy and comfort. Thank you for allowing us into your heart and your home! Hee hee I went through the same thing with Bryce. I refused to cut his gorgeous hair. I would be told by strangers "Oh what a cute little girl" (even though he was obviously dress like a boy lol) but the day finally came his choice not mine to cut those gorgeous locks. And he loves the hair dresser now!! Blessings!!
