Catching UP and Giving Back

Giving Back...
This past Sunday evening I experienced something pretty awesome. Our church, LCC, hosted a "Stop Hunger Now" event at the church so that we as a congregation could send 20,000 meals over to Uganda and surrounding areas. Our church is located in the only mall in Wilmington, which made this event even more awesome. Seeing this was a great way to get people to "ask questions"
..................................................................
Did you know...
That there are 6.5 Billion people in the world and we have enough food in the world to give EVERYONE a little over 4 lbs. of food per day. This is equivalent to 16 burgers per person.
But yet somehow...
25,000 people die each day from HUNGER?!?!
Hunger... Something that can be stopped.
Hearing these statistics read out loud while sitting comfortably in a air conditioned church building while wearing cute flip flops and laughing at how ridiculous we looked wearing hair nets... threw me into a severe state of empathy. With tears in my eyes... I was eager to get started.
Every time we hit a 1,000 meals, we celebrated! I wonder how much the starving people in the world celebrated over one meal?
Like the hair nets???
4 more meals to go...
time to celebrate!!!

Bible Reading...
I am still in Leviticus. I will admit I haven't been as motivated to finish this book and I seem to wake up each morning and dreadfully read a chapter and then quickly skip over to the new testament to read something a little more uplifting. I am sorry if this sounds bad. I know that it is all God's word and it is all important, so I will continue to push forward.
Any insights, encouragement or advice??
I did however read this verse this morning and thought about my post last week...
For some say, "His letters are weighty and forceful, but in person he is unimpressive and his speaking amounts to nothing." Such people should realize that what we are in our letters when we are absent, we will be in our actions when we are present.
~2 Corinthians 10:10
So I chose this for the scripture of the week. Hope it speaks to you.

I agree that parts of the OT can be, well, boring. However, you are doing the right thing by reading a bit of OT and NT. Right now, you are stuck in the laws and while God is totally revealed in these chapters, it doesn't always "feel" good. Keep up the good work! Stick with it and you'll be amazed at how it all works together. None of it was put there for "no reason."

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Proud of you as always. Love the pics from weekend when Jill and Matt came. Can you send them to me:)
