Facing the Storm... Literally!

1:30:00 PM

So far we have been in Wilmington for 4 months and we have endured
our first tornado...

An earthquake...

(this is what comes up when you google east coast earthquake)

AND now a hurricane... Irene.

Last night we thought it would be a great idea to be "storm chasers."  Although the sky was still filled with sun and just a few clouds... the waves were crazy and the surfers were even crazier.

The waves look normal here, but I am standing on a 5 foot sand cliff where the water has rushed and washed away the sand dunes.

Lots of spectators, photographers, surfers and...

new families that were too excited to stay at home.

She was pretty excited herself!  You could feel the ocean spray from the waves!

She was excited to eat, regardless of the weather.

Wade was excited to just be on the beach with a fishing pole!

Way past her bedtime.  She was so upset because I wouldn't let her get in the water.

This was 2 seconds later when she was so easily distracted by a seashell.

Look how cool the sky was!!

Leaning over for a kiss.

On our ride home... hard to believe a hurricane was on the way.

........................................................................

Which brings us to today...  Getting ready for the Storm.

Hurricane Supplies.

This was what greeted me when I took down my outside decor.  Last we looked, our little friend was still hanging out on the side of the house.  Wonder if he will ride out the storm there??

Morning Bath.  We can't have two stinky girls if the power chooses to go out!

Vacuuming is a necessity when dealing with torrential downpours and power outages.

The real hurricane took place upstairs.

....................................................................

It is 12:06pm and the rain has just begun.
You know that part in Forrest Gump, were the rain comes down side ways.
Yup.  That's what it looks like.

We have taken every precaution we know to do.  Including glow necklaces for the girls!
I have to admit there is a certain part inside of me that is a little excited.

All kidding aside... My family is worried.  So prayers appreciated.

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him.  Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping.   The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”
He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
